There was a big turnout for a campaign day to deliver a new leaflet promoting the petition.

Health campaigners are keeping up the fight to Save Paignton Ambulance Station, after hundreds of residents rushed to support their campaign.

Paignton Ambulance Station, on Totnes Road in the heart of Paignton, can house four emergency ambulances, which are regularly crewed and deployed from this location. The Ambulance Station is currently located in a building rented by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWAFT) which is shared with St John Ambulance. It has been revealed this building will no longer be available for their operational use when their current lease ends and will not be renewed, throwing its future into doubt.

The “Save Paignton Ambulance Station” petition was launched by Kevin Foster in April, with over 400 residents having already signed it and more backing it every day. Following the launch of the petition the trust (SWAFT) confirmed to Kevin they are looking at “alternative arrangements”, but no confirmation has yet been given of Paignton having its own Ambulance Station. Campaigners are therefore pledging to keep up their fight to save the service, including by delivering leaflets about the petition to thousands of homes across Paignton.

Commenting Kevin Foster said:

“I want to thank everyone who has signed the petition. Your voice is making a powerful difference, so I would urge everyone living in Paignton to get behind this campaign.”

“News the ambulance service is considering alternative arrangements is welcome; but the campaign must keep going until the future of Paignton’s Ambulance Station is secured and a plan for its future is confirmed."
