Demand A National Grooming Gangs Inquiry – Sign the Petition Today

Residents across South Devon are being urged to sign a petition calling for a national inquiry into rape gangs grooming scandal.

Many victims and survivors of the gangs are calling for a national inquiry to take place to get the truth of what happened, especially why so many services meant to protect victims, instead failed them and seemed more interested in protecting their abusers. The petition is available to be signed online at: www.demandaninquirynow.com

The petition follows a vote in the House of Commons on an amendment submitted by the Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch MP calling for a full National Inquiry into the rape gangs grooming scandal. Conservative and Reform MPs voted in favour, but Labour MPs blocked it by voting against, whilst the Lib Dems abstained, including the Lib Dem MPs for Torbay and South Devon.

Alongside opposition politicians, Rotherham Labour MP Sarah Champion and Liverpool Labour MP Dan Carden have joined a growing group of Labour members, including Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and veteran Labour politician Harriet Harman, who are calling for Keir Starmer to change track and put the victims of this vile scandal first by agreeing to hold a national inquiry.

A Comprehensive statutory national public inquiry into the rape gangs will have the powers it needs to get to the truth and go further than previous inquiries into the failing in specific areas.

Commenting on the vote and petition, former Torbay MP Kevin Foster said: “The demand for a national inquiry is overwhelming amongst victims and it’s vital we get to the truth. This petition gives residents a chance to have their say and send a message it’s time for a national inquiry into this scandal.”
