Company Withdraws from Airport Takeover Race

Efforts to rescue Coventry Aiport have taken a blow with the news that an international company, Airport Development Partners, has pulled out of a negotiations aimed at securing the jobs of hundreds of workers at Coventry Airport.

The company had recently been granted a period of exclusivity to allow details to be finalised and progress had been good until the shock announcement that they were pulling out.

Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council, Cllr Kevin Foster said:

"Whilst this news is a blow it is not a knock out punch to our hopes of saving the hundreds of local jobs that depend on Coventry Airport. The City Council had granted exclusivity to ADP yet it had also, at the same time, encouraged ADP to partner up with an international company that has its Headquarters in the Midlands.

Whilst ADP has decided for commercial reasons that it can not proceed with the acquisition of Coventry Airport, the local partner is still committed and the Council will work with them to try and bring this issue to a successful conclusion as soon as possible."
